The book is pretty old, and I don't know if I bought it from Blind Mice or
Horizons For the Blind. It was printed in 1997. The book title is: Mittens
and Hats to Knit Designed by Marion Grahm.
It has basic mittens in many sizes, bulky mittens, and basic hat all done on
4 double pointed needles, but I use the 2 circular needle method. I hate
double pointed needles. 
Using 2 strait needles they have patterns for basic mittens, thumbless
mittens, bulky hat, and cable hat.

What is the name of the mittin book that you have? I just got a mittin and
glove book from braille on demand called The  Knitting new Mittin and glove
Book by Robin  Melanson I have not tried any patterns yet, but I plan to
start one soon. Not sure if I will tackel gloves yet, I have never made them
before. If I need gloves I just buy them. Too many small fingers and tiny
needles!  I have a Speed Knit Mittins pattern that I use which is about 30
years old, that is how long I have had the pattern. I  wrote the print
pattern out in Braille since I liked it so much. 
Good luck with getting hand surgery. I hope that it goes well when you
decide to go  ahead with it. Find a good OT Hand Therapist for rehab before
surgery. My sister is a hand Therapist and has rehabed many people with a
successful outcome.

This past weekend was the New York State NFB affiliate convention. I always
bring a craft along to do while listening to the presentations. Well, I
brought my yarn and supplies to try mittens again. I found a braille book in
my craft books with knitted mittens in many sizes. I don't know what was
wrong with me before, but the first mitten knitted up in nothing flat with
no problems. When I got half way done with the second one, I had to stop,
because my back was complaining and also the carpel tunnel in my right hand.
I will finish the second one probably this evening.
I think I'm going to break down and have the surgery to fix my hand. I've
putting it off. My thumb and middle fingers are so numb and then painful
when I get up in the morning that I can't feel hardly anything. I have to
hold my coffee mug with both hands. GURRRRR!

I am knitting a top from a pattern called Gridlines.  It's knit lengthwise,
with a pattern of large squares created by slipped stitches going across,
then divided by a line of knits where I usually purl.  It's a nice pattern,
and different from anything I've knit before.  There are some bits where the
PDF didn't convert to text very well, and other bits that are a bit
confusing, but luckily I have other knitters to help interpret.  I think I
will be knitting it for a while yet, though I might take a break and make
some charity hats.  Though I'm afraid of losing my place in the top pattern.

The list has been really quiet, so that must mean everybody is working on
some fun projects, so let us know what your working on. I have been making
the Teddy bear that Ramona taught us last year. I have completed 2 and I'm
now working on the third one. Ramona warned us these could be addictive and
it's true.
 
Did you know if you want to keep cake fresh you must eat it in one sitting.
