[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Want to know Wednesday

I have a friend that comes once a week to help with mail, labeling, and other sighted tasks. She is fantastic with colors. I got 2 very large bins of yarn from a friend in a trade, plus my sister gave me all of my Mom's craft supplies. My friend and I have sorted 4 huge bins of all kinds of yarn. We are almost done. We seal each color in a plastic bag and do the low tech thing of writing out a braille label to tape to the bag. You should hear my friend trying to describe all of the different hues within a color. I have 3 afghans in progress trying to use up this mountain of yarn.

Hi, Bernice,
This is the exact reason I don't use phone-based color identifiers. Any difference in lighting can completely throw them off. I have a Rainbow color identifier, and it's okay, but it can only do so many colors. I prefer to get all the color information (and any other info I want) through Aira and then use WayAround to make tags for whatever I'm needing to identify. I use the oval-hole buttons the most, and I use either rubber bands to attach them, if I'm attaching them to containers or unopened strands of beads, or, in the case of yarn (which I really don't work with all that much since I'm horrible at knitting--I really need to try crochet) I would probably just find the end of the scane or ball and tie the button onto it using the end of the yarn.
Thanks,
Ari.
