Joyce,

I made a shorts & matching purse when I was a teenager back in the sixty's.
However, I made the purse with a zipper closure.  My Home Ec teacher was
impressed.  Unfortunately, I did not have the skills or machine needed to
embroider anything onto the set. 
 Your creation sounds awesome.

I would first cut them aabove the holes in the knees.  Then I fold them up
to about"summer short" length.  OK then I would take my embroidery machine
and embroider some thing attractive  across each leg to hold the hem up.
Then you have 2 legs left...  You can make a drawstring purse out of one of
course after you embroidered some on the other leg whish will make a
terrific pocket on something or a pocket on your draw string  bag.
