Good Morning Bernice and everyone, yes Bernice, that class six weight of
yarn will make a very nice, thick and warm lap robe, hat, scarf or mittens
just to name a few items that can be made from it. One brand of this yarn is
Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick which doesn't have any threads running
through the center of it.
I have made things with this yarn on size 15 needles, but will move down to
a size 11 like you suggested that you are using.
In fact, I plan to experiment with class five weight and six weight yarns
and different needle sizes this week to see the differences in feel of the
swatches. Then, I will experiment with my looms and crochet hooks. Enjoy the
rest of your Sunday!s

Because of the thickness of the yarn, and because of the kind of pattern, it
is extremely thick. Whatever I decide to do with it it will be a really warm
item. I am moving towards a lap blanket for someone that has a hard time
keeping warm using a wheelchair.
Echo says it should be 30 by 44 inches, which means I could just add on a
few inches on each side.

Sound like you made a baby blanket, possibly for the car or to snuggle up in
on a cold day watching football.

Enjoy the blanket. Maybe edge it in black.

Have you ever knitted with size 6 yarn? It is a bear. In that trade I made a
few years ago I inherited 6 skeins of yellow with a black strand through it.
Well I used up 6 skeins and it still isn't big enough for a shawl. It is
hard to work with because they stitches won't squish up under my hand being
ready to work with. The piece is 30 by 20, and I am putting it away for a
little bit before I buy yarn to make it into something. The success is that
I persevered to the end of the sixth skein. My hands are saying uncle.

It's already another Saturday, so this is your opportunity to share any
successes you had over the last week. We want to celebrate your wins with
you weather it's craft related or not.
