[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Knitting chart problem

The shawl I'm knitting has charts, which I had transcribed.  

I know at least 2 are OK, but 1 doesn't have the right number of stitches in
some rows.  There should be 54, but some rows have 47 and some have like 57.
Eeek!

I'm trying to figure out if the pattern is wrong or the transcription is
wrong, but that's not easy.  I had an AIRA person look at the chart, but
that didn't work.  

In the good old days, I could have taken it over to my local store and
asked, but sadly for me the store closed.  

I have a knitters meeting Monday, and I can ask there.  I was just hoping to
work on my shawl this weekend, and I can't until I figure this out.  Not
sure what to do.  It's frustrating.
