Hi Terri, yes, the 5/8 inch Flexi Looms are the large sized ones.

I have the skinny flexi looms and the 5/8 pegs is that the jumbo size?

After talking to Joyce, I've decided to go forward with some of the classes to gauge people's interes and abilitty to pick up these techniques. I think there are some pretty advanced loom knitters here, so I feel it is do-able. So please look for further information as they are scheduled, but I'm planning on starting with wire knitting as the intermediate technique and start teaching short rows as the more advanced technique toward using those short rows in making arms, legs, ears, and other appendages for stuffed animals and other designs. I also want to encourage people to play with the techniques as they learn them, just to discover what they do and come up with their own ideas...I have freefrom knit and designed several of my own crittters by exploring the techniques and playing with them until it comes out how I want.
There was also a question about flexilooms and looms. I am not familiar with the extenders for the Authentic Knitting Board looms. I use the flexiloom almost exclusively, occasionally making use of a spol loom or even a double knitting loom, though I'm by no means even a mediocre double loom knitter. If you feel comfortable with flexilooms, I would defintely suggest them as they provide the most customization. Many of the critters I make are 12 or 24 stitch casst-ons, but often have increases and decreases, sometimes internally, and I find the flexiloom makes this much easier to do. I don't have one yet myself, but AKB does now have a gauge for fingering weight. I hope to get it soon. I use either the skinny or jumbo, depending on the yarn I am using and the size I want my critter to be. Currently I am working on a stuffed cat for a friend's 9 year old/o daughter. I am using bulky weight polyester eyelash yarn (JubileeYarn Tedy Bear bulky is the exact yarn) and the jumbo gauge flexiloom. It is coming out great and just the right size for a young girl to snuggle and carry around. Now I just need to find the right eyes because colorwork knitting for the eyes just isn't doing what I wanted.
Overall, if you are an intermediate to advanced loom knitter and you feel comfortable or willing to work with the flexiloom, I highly recommend it. Adding and removing stitches in the middle of the row is so much easier, in turn making it much easier to use a needle knitting pattern as well since there's less adjustments needed. I rarely use anything else!
I hope this answers the loom questions and sparks people's creative minds for the classes. I will definitely be going forward with this so keep an eye out for April!
Be good. IF you can’t be good, be good at it.
