Hi Bernice, yes, you are correct on all of this.
When I used to watch Star Trek or other Sci Fi shows as a kid, I thought
"Wouldn't that be so cool if Dr. Bones and Nurse Chapel could really do all
of that kind of stuff like with the beds that registered all of the vital
signs, body weight and so on?
In fact, now that I think back on it, when I had a Retinal surgery, the Dr.
flew in a team of doctors from Sweden with some new state of the art
surgical instruments that I heard could go around corners, get into tight
spaces and so on.
That Doctor was only not only a Professor, but, the head of the Retinal
Department of Yale New Haven Hospital in Ct.

The doctors control it. They can have much smaller tools and more precise
movements. It is pretty amazing. You probably wouldn't even know if one was
used in a surgery unless you asked. My echo says they are used in heart
surgery and transplant surgery.

FYI, surgery using robots is not a thing of the future. It is here, and the
results from transplant surgery for example has better outcomes than using
only a human doctor.

If they are going to use a robot on me, I do not want to know it!
I want human doctors!
I just had to schedule metro access, our transportation  for the
handycapped, by using their AI!

Hi Jolene, awe, that is just too funny and priceless. I wish that someone
would have a camera to capture the moment.
Now, I draw the line if Tommy Tin Can is loose in the operating room, and,
is wielding a scalpel or saw. (I want a real live human doc in there with me
or with a loved one doing the cutting and sewing.

one of my dogs came into contact with a hospital robot. his reaction was
priceless. he cocked his head and whined. then sauntered up to the thing and
sniffed it. it said something like please move out of the way and he backed
up a bit and cocked his head again. then he looked at me wagging his tail as
if to say what the h e double hockey sticks is that thing mom?
