Meeting notes for the
National Federation for the Blind Kalamazoo 10/21/10

 

Tyler opened the
meeting.  Members present were Tyler Merren (president),
Leanne Merren, Michael Curl (board member), Emily Curl (secretary), and Kenny
(board member). Everyone present introduced themselves and we played an
icebreaker game to get acquainted.  Tyler
reviewed the benefits of membership. 
Tyler discussed the minutes and made a motion to approve the
minutes.  The motion was seconded and the
minutes were approved by the majority. Emily brought up the issue of the NFB
gift basket for the State convention the next weekend.  This opened up discussion of the State
convention.  The convention was held on
the weekend of October 29, 2010 at the Double tree hotel.  Some members were planning on taking a shared
bus to convention.  Tyler and Leanne
mentioned that there may be scholarships available for first time attendees of
the State convention.  Leanne and Emily
volunteered to bake/create some items for the gift basket.  Fundraisers were also discussed. Ideas discussed
were to sell concession foods at goalball matches, put Kenny in a dunk tank, and
have a bake sale. Emily and Leanne were assigned to the baking idea. Tyler
requested more help for the goalball concession fundraiser.  Additional ideas were requested.  The meeting came to an end around 7:30
pm.  Tyler made a motion for the meeting
to adjourn.  The motion was seconded by
Kenny and was approved by the majority of the group.
