Judy and Chris,

You will find out that to move up the ladder in Lions you have to start from being a Director, Vice-President, President, Zone Chair, and if there is a Region Chair who is responsible for the Zone Chairs, then it will be getting onto the District Governors Cabinet, then to a Vice-District-Governor, then to a District Governor, Then to a Multi District Council Chair, and so on and so on.

On the International level one has to become a International Director following the completion of the steps I outlined above, then to be a Director of the Lions Foundation Board, and along with all of that being assign to be a leadership trainer, before you can really set your eyes on becoming the International President.

You can see how much you have to devote time, energy and money as you move up the ladder.

That for me is why I have not persued moving up to the Vice District Governor and seeking to be a District Governor.

Yes, there is a lot to learn and there are great teachers who are good communicators in Lionism.

So, set your sight on getting to know the members of this club and learning and do what you feel comfortable do in the way of projects. But, remember, fundraising is an important part of being a Lion and when it is time to contribute, you will be expected to contribute.

Yes we will.

The first thing that strikes both of us is how seemingly complicated the hierarchy is: Clubs, zones, districts etc. Not to mention the various positions.

I'm just now retaining we are in a club district H, with two zones, and nine districts in our multidistrict 19, which includes part of Idaho and Canada, why, who knows. 😊

You are right Milton, we do have a lot to learn.

We have been in the NFB for a long time, and in conversation, Chris and I were saying how interesting it is to look at how other groups organize the way they do.

Our club locally seems full of a lot of sweet people, not a very enthusiastic club as a group, but individuals wanting to serve. Not a lot going on with them right now, but will see how everything plays out.

Judy

Hi Chris and Judy,

Great to hear that you will be officially a Lion and I know you will have to learn a lot about what the clubh does. My advice is don't try to jump into too many things during the first year and learn as much as you can about the different people in the club. Members are very divers and you will need to learn how to get along with different people and the ways that they think.
If asked about blind issues, don'[t hesitate to share the NFB philosophy so that people don't take advantage of you.

Have fun!

Hi, Milton,

Thank you so much for this notice. I plan to be there.

Chris and I are going to be officially drafted in tomorrow night at our Sedro-Woolley Lions meeting.

Hello Fellow Lions:

Our next NFB-Lions Zoom chat will be on Saturday, December 26, 2020, beginning at 5:00 PM ET, 4 PM CT, 3 MT, 2PM PT, and 12 Noon HT. The zoom invitation will be sent to the list on or by the 18th of December.

We had two new people join us on the last call that we had on November 28, and we had a lively discussion about getting materials from Lions Clubs International into accessible format.m

There has also been someone who called me about the Zoom chats and is a Lion and hopefully this person will be able to join us on the 26 of December. I don't know where or how this person got my number but you will find it below.

Hope to see as many of you on December 26 on the call.

Lion Milton Ota
