Hello Judy,

This is all getting very interesting. Now, need to find out what is written inside the brochure. It might be something that could be distributed by Lions who are blind during the month of October if the brochure is available free for distribution.

Subject: [NFB-Lions] More Information on White Canes Days events.

Hi, All,

I just heard from the secretary of our MD-19 KOTB committee, and will paste it below.

I’m wondering if we shouldn’t all pull together in our districts, clubs, and committees to get a name change for this event? How about Sight Restoration Days?

Colette’s information below will explain my idea.

Hi Chris, Judy and Andy,

Just wanted to provide a description of the stickers that are available for white cane days at the LCI Shop. I am wondering if my club, as well as others may be unaware of why the Lions are no longer creating the antiquated little plastic hooks and if it may be more of an issue of getting word out to clubs of a change that LCI has directed. I remember a year r two ago that some members in my club had said that the canes were no longer being produced. They didn’t mention the new White Cane days sticker:

It is a blue-filled circle with a white horizontal banner across the center of the circle that almost stretches from one side to the other. It fills about 30% of the circle. To the left side of the Banner is a Blue and White Lions International Logo, followed about 1/3 of the way across the banner, by a straight red-tipped white cane perpendicular to the Banner. All the other words on the sticker are to the right of the white cane. In White letters above the banner reads “Lions Support”. Across the banner to the right of the cane in red letters it says White Cane Day. Below the banner in white bulleted letters are three lines of text reading, Independence, Mobility and Safety.

I will hope to find out more tomorrow to determine what LCIs position is and if we just have some of our clubs that need to be pulled into the present if not the future. Smile.

Judy
