All,
Deadline to do this is Noon tomorrow, Sunday, July 12, 2020.
Those wishing to be able to vote during the national convention, for example
for resolutions and during elections, need to take one additional step to be
able to do so. Individuals who: 1) are current dues-paying members of a
local chapter or division of NFBMD; and 2) registered for the national
convention on or before June 15, 2020, are eligible to enroll to vote. To
enroll to vote, those individuals should visit <https://nfbvote.org>
https://nfbvote.org, enter their first and last name exactly as they entered
them when they registered for Convention, and enter the phone number they
plan to use to either text or call in their votes. Each household member
will need to enroll in voting using a different phone number. All voting
enrollment must be completed by July 12, 2020.
Please note the following:
- Each voter will need a distinct and separate phone number, and
more than one voter cannot share a single voting phone number.
- Once an individual enrolls using <https://nfbvote.org>
https://nfbvote.org, the registered phone number and name will be compared
with both the convention registration list and the active membership list.
Anyone who fits into any of the below categories will not have their vote
counted: 1) fails to enroll in voting via <https://nfbvote.org>
https://nfbvote.org using the same name that was used to register for the
convention (it's fine to use a different phone number than the one used to
register for the convention); 2) did not register for the NFB National
Convention prior to or on June 15, 2020; or 3) was not an active, dues
paying member of an NFB local chapter or local division on or before June
15, 2020.
- Once a person enrolls in voting using <https://nfbvote.org>
https://nfbvote.org, they will be provided a phone number. It is critical
to save this phone number, write it down, store it in contacts, or put it in
a place where it is quickly and easily accessible.
- When items on the agenda come up for a vote, eligible voters will
have a short time to contact the phone number they received on enrollment to
cast their vote. Thus it is important to use a phone or method that is fast
and with which individuals are comfortable. There is no web-based voting,
and individuals cannot vote using an app.
- There are two distinct ways to vote:
o Call the phone number provided when an item is opened for voting - the
system will guide individuals through the question and choices, and voters
will select the option that has a number on the keypad assigned to it, e.g.
1 for yes and 2 for no.
o Text the phone number provided - simply put a 1, 2, yes, or no (or
whatever instructions the chair gives) as the content of the message, and
hit send.
- Please remember that if you do not meet all three criteria
above, your vote will not count.
- Please remember that if you try to vote from a phone number other
than the one that you enrolled using <https://nfbvote.org>
https://nfbvote.org, your vote will not count.
- If an individual is accessing the convention using a phone, and
that individual enrolled in voting using that same phone number, the
individual needs to be able to swop back and forth between the convention
and the voting phone line - and thus the individual may miss things that are
said as part of the convention. So if at all possible, we recommend
enrolling a different phone number for voting than the number that will be
used to access the convention.
If you need assistance enrolling to vote, please contact your chapter
president or me at <mailto:President at nfbmd.org> President at nfbmd.org or at
443-426-4110.
Looking forward to the best convention so far.

The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland knows that blindness is not
the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
