Apply for our Teachers of Tomorrow Program
* Connect with fellow teachers
* Develop relationships with blind adults
* Learn skills that will benefit you and your students for years to come
The National Federation of the Blind Teachers of Tomorrow is an immersive, professional development program that connects teachers of blind and low-vision students to the lived experiences of blind people. The program equips participants with knowledge about the skills and attitudes that help blind students thrive in school and beyond.
If you are preparing for a career in teaching blind students, or if you are an early career educator looking to enhance your teaching, the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) invites you to apply for a spot in the 2022-2023 cohort that kicks off this fall.
One member of the 2021 cohort said, “As a sighted person, I was unsure of where I fit in. I knew that people at the NFB had something to offer me as a new teacher, and certainly something to offer my students that I couldn’t provide them with myself. But, my participation in Teachers of Tomorrow not only benefits me professionally, but it benefits my students. One day, my students will no longer be mine. They will graduate, and have the rest of their lives ahead of them. Now that I relate to the NFB, I can connect my students with this huge network of people who share lived experiences as blind individuals. Their families can meet blind adults who are “living the lives they want,” and have that same goal for their children.”
Applications Due May 1, 2022

This yearlong program is free to participants thanks to a partnership between the NFB and the Gustavus and Louise Pfeiffer Research Foundation.
We look forward to your participation and support.
About Our Education Initiatives
The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines the future for blind students. Through our extensive education programs, we present blind students with new ideas, expose teachers and families to our positive philosophy on blindness, and encourage blind youth to reach their full potential.
