The first generation of Muslims which included the first four Caliphs after the death of the prophet, PBUH, and dozzens of his companions did not change their preIslamic names. As Islam and the Muslim state expanded over large areas inhabited by Jews, Christians, and other religious communities, some members of those communities converted to Islam and kept their pre-conversion names. I converted to Islam on January 9, 2023. I am a mom of 21-year-old twin daughters. I live in Baltimore county, and I am blind in my right eye, but I do have a little vision in my left eye. I am happy to have found this group. I’ve been a member of the NFB for only around 3 years or so.
