Unfortunately, there were some events that occurred which have deeply concerned many members, including myself.<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-bookmark:_Hlk104126486"><span style="mso-bookmark:_Hlk75539397"><span style="mso-bookmark:_Hlk104128366">Although I have recently stepped away from the group due to these issues, it has recently come to me that members of the NFB Muslims group wishing to discuss issues pertaining to the group, it’s place within the federation, and the subject of diversity have been pushed into silence. This is not the way of the federation as it does not shy away from such topics.<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-bookmark:_Hlk104126486"><span style="mso-bookmark:_Hlk75539397"><span style="mso-bookmark:_Hlk104128366">I have been made aware that some members have requested an emergency meeting to take place before the monthly meeting being held in August, however, they have been told this will not happen. There are many chapters and divisions within the federation which allow for members of these groups to call for a special meeting when needed. This clause is written in many constitutions. Because the NFB Muslims Group is an informal group, members have the right to hold their own meeting if needed.<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-bookmark:_Hlk104126486"><span style="mso-bookmark:_Hlk75539397"><span style="mso-bookmark:_Hlk104128366">It is deeply concerning to me that leaders within this organization would not only ignore the needs of it’s members, but actively work to silence them, especially one who was highly disrespected.
