Hi Sandy,

Here in Louisville Ky we are experiencing the same issues. Back in July we
came up with the "Great Convention Give Away" Every member, visitor, friend
or family that attends a chapter meeting/event get their name put in a
drawing to win an all expense paid trip to our 2011 State Convention. We
will draw the winning name at our 2011 Spring Luncheon. There's a twist,
for every new person a member brings to an event or meeting that members
name will go in the drawing that many times. For example, If I brought one
new person to our meeting this month my name would go in the drawing two
times this month.

So far we have seen some faces we haven't seen in awhile and some new faces.
I know some chapter may not have the money to do a convention give away but
I'm sure you could come up with something. I'm excited about upcoming year.

Best of luck!
Nickie

  Good evening everyone,
I have a couple of questions to ask in hopes of getting some good guidance
from all the experienced people on this list. I have a chapter who's
members don't like to volunteer to help out with events. How can I motivate
these folks? We hold meet and greets at our local Wal-Mart stores but I
would like to know what some other chapters might do at your meet and greets
to see if changing up things may help with enthusiasm. I have been
president for about 2 years and I am running out of ideas to light a fire.
Any suggestions would be extremely helpful.
Thank you all ahead of time for helping me brainstorm. Have a wonderful
day.

  Sincerely,
  Sandy Alvarado

  SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:
How far you go in life depends on your
  being tender with the young,
  compassionate with the aged,
  sympathetic with the striving
and tolerant of the weak and the strong --
because someday you will have been all of these.
