As many of you are aware there is big issues going on at NH Vocational
Rehabilitation. They have some how been over spending for for over 5
years.
- 17 employees are being laid off. This includes one of the two people
who support the Randolph Sheppard Business Enterprise Program in NH.
That leave just one staff person to support this valuable program
- I don't know how capacity wise VR will be able to sustain with less
employees.
- The are moving to an *Order of Selection* process which means there
will be a wait list for services.
- Right now all new applications are being put on the wait list
automatically as they are are not adding anyone while they access if they
can support those currently receiving services.
- right now there isn't clear answers on is going to happend now and
what is going to happen in the future.
- There is a listen session on Tomorrow in Concord and being broadcast
in regional locations. Please visit
https://www.education.nh.gov/career/vocational/stateplan.htm to find
out more.
- There is draft documents on the new policy.
- Contact VR directly for questions. I have spoken to Bill Finn and he
shared some of this information with me.
So in short.. VR will be doing less with less resources and making people
wait. If anyone hears about hardships caused by this I propose we keep
track of them.
