Adaptive Physical Education Teacher

 

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is currently recruiting for an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher.  The adaptive PE teacher will assess individual students and develop, adapt and implement specialized physical education programs for students who are blind/visually impaired with/without other impairments.  This individual will complete comprehensive motor assessments of students and make specific program recommendations.  They will provide direct services to students, consult with other staff, and participate in IEP meetings.   Individuals must possess an in-depth knowledge in the areas of adaptive physical education. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education and/or PE. The successful candidate must be willing to become licensed as a teacher of the visually impaired and/or obtain Adaptive PE certification; must possess or be eligible for NM Public Education Department licensure.  Will be required to become Braille proficient.  Full‑time, 9-month contract for the 19-20 school year.  Applications accepted until filled.
