Subject: SAGE, Member at Large meeting announcement for June
 
The Senior Action Group Energy (SAGE combined with our Members at Large
group ) of New Mexico meets the second Wednesday of every month at 7 p. m.
Mountain time via Zoom. All are welcome
Come join us on Wednesday, June 8, ,  2022 to learn about who Adelmo Vigil
was and what he has become. Below you will find a little bit about him.
 
Adelmo Vigil was born in the small community of Amalia, New Mexico, in 1951.
He was adopted as a baby by his aunt and uncle and raised as an only child. 
In 1973 Adelmo decided to pursue a degree in elementary education at Western
New Mexico University. There he met the love of his life, 
Soledad, who became his wife. 
Adelmo's experiences teaching sighted students and combatting discrimination
earned him an invitation from Joe Cordova and Fred Schroeder to speak at the
1982 convention of the 
National Federation of the Blind of New Mexico
in Albuquerque. 
He became involved in the affiliate and has served in various roles since
that time, culminating in his election as affiliate president in 2012. Since
then he has combatted many issues pertaining to blindness. He is interesting
and witty and very very busy, a husband, a dad, a grandfather, an affiliate
president a NFB board member, etc etc.
