> Evaluate the student’s skill level and provide training based on their needs.
> Teach using Structured Discovery and NOMC-based approved methodologies
> Facilitate one-on-one and multi student environment lessons.
> Plan lessons geared towards transferability that students are able to take with them in their lives and future career goals
> Participate in outings where promotion of the cane and non-visual training is required.
> Provide direct instruction with travel and navigational applications.
> Teach the difference between different types of canes and promote a positive outlook of the usage of canes in the everyday life geared towards self-reliance and independence.
> Requirements
> NOMC, COMS certification or equivalent
> Or have at least 5 years of experience in the field of teaching Orientation and Mobility, and willing to work towards their NOMC apprenticeship upon employment.
> Able to teach using structure discovery methodology,
> Experience teaching students with secondary disabilities and adapt the curriculum based on their needs including working with PT’s, OTs, and other specialists.
> Able to demonstrate proficiency with a cane under learning shades.
> Salary range is between $50,000-$57,000
