December 2024
NFBNM-At Large Chapter announcements and links for distribution from Janet Montoya, ALC president.
Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. As a reminder, there will not be an At Large Chapter meeting in December. However, I have a few important announcements and links to share.
First on behalf of the ALC I want to say, “Thank you” to Peggy Hayes, Daphne Mitchell, and Steve Ranger for your service to the NFBNM ALC board in 2024. In different ways you each contributed resources and ideas that made us think and better understand our roles in supporting and growing the National Federation of the Blind. Thank you.
Next, meet your 2025 board members:
* Janet Montoya, President
* Frank Maestas, Vice President
* Jamie Sibson, Sec/Treasurer
* Martin Gallegos, Board member-1
* Thristan Tucker, Board member-2
Thank you all who participated in the nomination and voting process at our November meeting. I look forward to working with our new board members as we continue our journey in the Blind Peoples Movement. Our next zoom meeting will be January 28, 2025. Agenda to follow.
In regards to the 3 links below:
First is the November Live Presidential Release #543 Dare to be Remarkable.
Second is the December Presidential release #544-chapter version. There is not a live Presidential release for December.
And third is a link to a podcast of Living Blindfully. During his September 2024 Presidential release, National Federation of the Blind President Mark Riccobono announced that Jonathan Mosen has joined the team at the National Federation of the Blind to pursue a range of initiatives in technology, accessibility, and communications.
In this special episode, Mark and Jonathan discuss Jonathan's role, and how you can get involved.
Finally, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year, and safe travels.
Janet
