Do you use computers non-visually by listening to a<br>screen-reader software? Do you have at least three years of experience<br>searching for information on the Internet? Are you comfortable<br>verbalizing your thoughts in English? If your response is yes to all,<br>you can earn $100 for participating in a research study. A research<br>team comprising blind and sighted scholars at the University of<br>Wisconsin-Milwaukee is investigating the accessibility and usability<br>of digital libraries (DLs) for users who are blind. The goal is to<br>create digital library design guidelines to design DLs that aid blind<br>and visually impaired people in the effective search for information<br>online. Volunteers selected as study participants will be instructed<br>to keep a diary for their interaction. Participants will complete a<br>diary based on a diary template as they search for specified<br>information in two digital libraries. The participants may complete<br>the diaries at a time convenient to the participant over the course of<br>two weeks. In addition, participants will be asked to complete several<br>questionnaires and a short follow up interview. The complete study<br>might take about 3.5 hours.
