<p class="MsoNormal">As most of you know, the delegation representing the New Mexico Affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind is only days away from departing for Washington, D.C. where they will be meeting with the Senators and Congressmen who represent our state in our nation’s capital. <span> </span>The group going to Washington includes Adelmo and Soledad Vigil, Curtis and Peggy Chong, and Kaity Ellis, who will be accompanied by her grandmother, Phyllis Conner. Please wish them a successful trip, and safe travels.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The Student Division’s new year is beginning to look like it will be a busy one. The University of New Mexico’s Mariachi La Plata will be hosting a benefit concert on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the university campus in Silver City. The concert is in honor of the Student Division of the New Mexico NFB, and the proceeds will be donated to our division. Please keep the date in mind, and try your hardest to attend. All of you who can make the trip will be impressed by the band as they are considered to be one of the best in the United States. I am sure all you will join me when I say that their generosity is greatly appreciated.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Quick reminder! The date for our state convention is quickly approaching, so please add it to your “Save the Date” list. The dates are April 20 through 22, and the convention will be held at the Sheraton Uptown in Albuquerque. Please put your thinking caps on and contact me should you have ideas for activities the Student Division can do for fun during the convention.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Please forward your ideas to me by March 1, 2018, so the agenda can be completed promptly.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Another quick reminder! Our Amazon Fund Raiser will be kicked off during the first week of February. I will contact you later this week with the exact date and details.</p>
