Dear Partners:

The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) is preparing a feasibility study for revitalization of the State’s Stockley Campus just south of Georgetown. As a valued community partner serving those who live and work in Sussex County, we are seeking your input to help us identify and address gaps in state services that we may have an opportunity to address through the Stockley Revitalization Project.

As you may know, the flagship of the multipurpose Stockley Campus is the Stockley Center, operated by DHSS. Stockley Center includes the 50-bed Mary Ann Coverdale (MAC) Center, licensed as an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID), as well as residential cottages. The campus’ 23 buildings also house a range of DHSS services through the Division of Developmental Disabilities Services, the Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities, the Division of Public Health and the Division for the Visually Impaired, as well as a number of state services through such agencies as Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, the Department of Labor, the Office of Forensic Science and the Medical Examiner’s Office. The property includes a nature preserve with walking trails, a solar panel field and Delaware Veterans Cemetery. It is the current home to the Howard T. Ennis School and the future site of Sussex Central High School, and it will soon be home to Delaware State Police Troop 4.

Please share this information with other community partners and look for social media posts on the DHSS Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn pages with registration links to these public comment sessions.

Best,
