>> Purpose of the Study
>>
>> This study will use a qualitative research methodology with a phenomenological approach to explore the development of disability identity for adults with visual impairments, including blindness, reflecting on their lived experiences during adolescence in the educational setting. From these lived experiences in adolescence, the researcher hopes to understand the phenomena of developing disability identity. The results from the study will be used to educate educators and others who work in the field of visual impairment, including blindness, about the development of disability identity in the educational setting during adolescence.

>> Participation in this study will require approximately 30 minutes. You will be asked to complete a one-on-one semi-structured interview using a researcher-created interview protocol and a brief demographics survey. A pseudonym can be chosen and used in place of your identity for the study. The interviews will take place in person or online using an accessible virtual meeting platform, such as Zoom, where the audio and/or video will be recorded and then transcribed into a written format. The interview will be recorded for transcribing purposes only, and you will be emailed a copy of your interview transcript to review for accuracy.
