<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:16.0pt">Learn eReader basics and how to get free eBooks for your Zoomax Braille eReader</span></b><span style="font-size:16.0pt">. Delaware Library Access Services (DLAS) is holding a Zoomax Braille eReader workshop
on November 8, 2024, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Newark Library, 750 Library Ave, Newark, DE 19711. This workshop is free and open to the public. The workshop will be conducted by DLAS eReader team members Marie Cunningham, DLAS Regional Librarian, and
Kat Bottner, eReader Team Member. Ms. Bottner is knowledgeable in technology and, specifically, about the Zoomax eReader. Ms. Bottner gained her expertise in technology and the Zoomax eReader from her studies and training and from her personal use of the technology.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:16.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:16.0pt">Zoomax Braille eReaders are available on a loan basis to DLAS patrons who are using or wish to access material in braille format</span></b><span style="font-size:16.0pt">. Please bring your eReader if you
have one. eReaders will be available at the workshop for check out by DLAS patrons. To check out an eReader, you must be a registered member of DLAS. DLAS applications will be available at the workshop, however, completing the registration process may slightly
delay your receiving an eReader which, if that is the case, will be mailed to your home after the workshop. eReaders will be available to use during the workshop for those who do not have their own yet.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:16.0pt">The Zoomax eReader is not just about providing technology; it’s about breaking down barriers, increasing literacy, and fostering independence. The Zoomax eReader displays the material by raising and lowering
different combinations of pins in braille cells. The ebraille display is refreshable in that it changes continuously as the reader progresses through the text.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:16.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:16.0pt">The Zoomax eReader has 20 braille cells with 20 accompanying cursor routing buttons. The device is charged via a USB-C port and has wifi and Bluetooth capabilities. The Zoomax e-Reader has 16 GB internal memory
and is designed to accommodate additional storage via SD card and/or USB flash drive. It has the eight-dot keyboard that includes the six braille keys of a Perkins-style keyboard plus Backspace and Enter. It also has a Space key located between dots 1 and
4 as on a Perkins Brailler. More information about the eReader machine will be covered during the workshop.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:16.0pt">DLAS patrons may independently download electronic braille material for the Braille eReaders directly from BARD or request that DLAS custom make cartridges or use both methods of obtaining eBraille material.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
