I have gotten word that House Bill 2834 is going to go to a vote on June 10. Ironically, the Senate plans to do a voice vote on this bill, which they say will put this to rest. This is not good news, since every legislator's vote should be on the public record so their constituents can find out how they voted on the issue.

Given this, all of you are urged to send an e-mail to ALL State Senators. Hopefully, you still have the list.

All of you are being urged to send the message below to all the Senators. Here it is for easy copy-and-paste, and if you wish to add something bbrief, please do so.

Also, please call your own State Senators and voice your dissatisfaction about the way the Senate is handling House Bill 2834.

Thanks, and let's flood the Senate with e-mails and phone calls against this bill. Here is the message.

I am very angry that the proposed voice vote on House Bill 2834 is scheduled to occur on Wednesday, June 10th.

Please understand that closing the State School for the Blind will not create a better educational system for blind children in Oregon; it will only make things worse.

Please do not accept a voice vote on this bill. If you are a supporter of this bill, your constituents deserve to know that. If you do not support this bill, then your constituents also deserve to know how you feel about this bill and about closing the State School for the Blind. Thank you very much.
