I'm new to this list. It's been interesting for me to read the flurry of comments generated by this 
topic. I didn't think much about it myself, until my sighted husband asked me to go, partly in 
support of one of his sighted co-workers who is attending despite claustrophobic tendencies. I think 
it takes some courage for a sighted person to try something like this. I can report back on my 
impressions of the event, if anyone is interested.

I read some strong feelings in many of the comments. There seems to be anger and bitterness. I'm 
sorry if anyone feels that way. My experience of people is that  we mostly have good intentions. Our 
mistakes come out of ignorance or inexperience. The more experience we have being around someone who 
is different in some way, the more empathy and compassion we can learn.
