Penn State Harrisburg is expanding its Student Disability Resources Office
and looking to hire a Disability Services Coordinator. Please pass this

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Harrisburg, a comprehensive College of The Pennsylvania State
University, welcomes applications and nominations for the position of
Coordinator of Student Disability Resources. Reporting to the Assistant
Director of Student Disability Resources, The Coordinator of Student
Disability Resources will provide academic accommodations to students with
disabilities. Student Disability Resources (SDR) is part of Counseling &
Psychological Services, a unit of Student Affairs, which committed to the
holistic growth of our students. Inclusion, diversity, and equity are the
cornerstones of the mission and goals of Penn State Harrisburg Student
Affairs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with the SDR staff,
the faculty, other units of Student Affairs, and the administration to
ensure that the needs of students with disabilities are met. This role is
responsible for providing essential direct service to students with
disabilities to assess, plan, and deliver reasonable accommodations within
academic courses and college activities. This position is responsible for
assisting the unit's delivery of those plans and is an expert resource for
faculty and other administrative units. The Coordinator uses assistive
technologies and must have subject matter knowledge of ADA and other
applicable legal standard, and accessibility strategies. This position
develops, coordinates, and manages multiple complex projects and may develop
and manage project budgets as directed. This role must also provide
accommodations within the guidance and standards of the University Student
Disability Resource office.

The Coordinator also helps educate the campus community about disabilities
and how they affect college students, promotes an accessible learning
environment, and assists students in developing self-advocacy skills and
adapting to the demands of college life.

Penn State Harrisburg is located in Middletown, near the city of Harrisburg,
the state capital of Pennsylvania. The college is easily accessible via
interstate and rail routes from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and
New York, and Harrisburg International Airport is located within minutes
from campus. The college is the largest and most comprehensive of Penn
State's Commonwealth Campuses. An undergraduate college and graduate school,
Penn State Harrisburg offers more than 75 associate, bachelor's, master's,
and doctoral degree programs and is the only campus, along with University
Park, to offer programs from the associate to doctoral levels. The college

Typical requirements of this position are a Master's degree or higher in
education or a social science field and three years of related experience or
a combination of education and experience. Additionally the successful
candidate will be expected to have:

*	Strong working knowledge of the relevant state and federal laws
associated with accommodations in higher education
*	Compassion for students with disabilities
*	A desire to help all students grow and develop
*	A commitment to reduce discrimination of students with disabilities
and enhance systems supporting equity and inclusion.
*	Detail-oriented and able to work in a face-paced, changing
environment
*	Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential, in
addition to strong organizational, time management, problem-solving and
critical thinking skills
*	Skill in working collaboratively with others and in developing
professional networks
*	Experience in communicating with various stakeholders and presenting
to large groups in various forums
*	Ability to support the college's broad range of activities and
initiatives

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal
Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI)
Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
