Alternative Underlining in Word

To underline just the words in a piece of text (not the spaces), select the text and press Control + Shift + W. This may suit better when text is justified (where paragraphs contain extra space between words to meet the edges of the page).


To double underline, select the text and press Control + Shift + D. This is a commonly used format for totals in accounting.
