John:
As Moderator, and List Owner, the time has come where I feel that I
must do something about what is happening on nfb-talk, once
again. No matter what I do, some people will be unhappy, I do to
much, or I don't do enough, or I am practicing censorship, or I am
dancing to Baltimore's drum. So be it! People will think what they think.
I agree that you haven't always been fairly treated here, some people
have attacked you personally, even recently, and this is wrong. I
have previously pointed this out, and have been accused of favoring
non-Federationists. I am just trying to be fair to everybody, and
personal attacks are not appropriate behavior on this list, and need
to be stopped.
On the other hand, you are like a person of one political persuasion,
pick democrat or republican, it doesn't matter, and you keep going to
meetings of the other party. There you loudly tell them they are all
wrong and why you think so. They of course don't like that and
verbally tell you so, maybe even going overboard a little. You leave
and come back, and do it again, leave, and come back, and do it
again, and complain about how you are treated while you are there.
I have tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but i can see a
pattern. You seem to be obsessed with identifiable money, audible
pedestrian signals, and descriptive video. No matter what we are
talking about you bring up these things time and time again. On
December 13 you said you were leaving the list for 3 months ..... I
will paste in the text below.
You do leave and come back, and within two weeks the list is as
chaotic as it has ever been. We were talking about the Foundation
Fighting Blindness, dining in the dark etc., and once again you have
to push the buttons of identifiable money, audio pedestrian signals,
and descriptive video.
As moderator I am drawing a line in the sand and saying to you, once
and for all, it has to stop. You are not changing anybody's mind,
and we obviously are not changing yours. It has all been said
previously, time and time again, and is doing no one any good.
The above subjects are off topic for you, and if you can't discuss
something and move on, I will permanently ban you from the list. I
do not want to do so, but this all is totally unproductive for everybody.
Here is what you said on December 13. I don't know if you are
obsessed with the three topics, or you are so sure you are right ...
or what. We have been repeating this pattern for a couple years now,
and it needs to stop once and for all.
Okay, so as a show of good faith I'm putting myself on hiatus for a month.
No, 3 months. (Do I hear 6?) So I won't post here until mid-March. Heck lets
just say April 1. I won't post here again until April Fools Day as a sign of
good faith.
I don't expect anyone to take it as proof but I'm just trying to show that I
don't intend to make people angry. Its just that I think these issues are
important and I believe I've made an extremely strong case for each of my
opinions. I hope people will take this gesture in the spirit in which it is
given. I don't want to be a pest. I can't help it. So Merry Christmas!
Anyway, if anyone wants to keep debating with me via private email, just
take nfb-talk out of the subject. I am more than willing (eager) to continue
to discuss these issues.
PS: I honestly feel no animosity for anyone on this list. Seriously, I just
think we all just happen to disagree. That's no reason to think badly of the
other person. I mean, you folks can't help it if your opinions are so wrong.
[Its a joke.]
