[nfb-talk] Inaccessible appliances!

Hi Joshua -- Last year I bought a talking mic rowave from ILA (independent
living aids).
The cost is about $150, but it is a deluxe model and really easy to use. My
mother, who frowned about me getting it, now says it's the best microwave
she has ever had and loves it. She is sighted, I am blind--I thought it was
my oven...;) oh well. (Mom lives with me.)

One warning -- the same oven is sold by Maxi-Aids for no less than double
the price. I called them looking for an oven and thought $300++ was a lot
to pay for a microwave, talking or not. Then I called ILA and bought it
there. I actually called Maxi-Aids back to tell them their competition was
selling the same oven for half their price, and they seemed not to care.

Happy shopping.

Subject: [nfb-talk] Inaccessible appliances!

Hi, it's Joshua Lester.
My microwave stopped working, a few weeks ago.
Now, my family has this inaccessible one, that has a touch screen.
I hate touch screens, on anything!
I heard, that Walmart sells an accessible microwave, called the Cook Magic.
I went to Walmart's Website, and they have it, but the store 30 miles
away from my hometown, doesn't have it.
The employees have never heard of it either.
I thought it was illegal, for companies to make inaccessible appliances!
What's the problem?
Why are stores still allowed to sell them?
Something's wrong with this!
Thanks, Joshua
