Hi Ed and Harry,

A good place to look would be the NFB Web site. In the "about
NFB" section, there is a resource list for each state. This
includes NFB resources in each state as well as resources of
interest to blind people; library for the blind (NLS library,)
vocational rehab agencies, etc. To get to the list for PA, go to
www.nfb.org and click on About NFB. On the page titled "about
the National Federation of the Blind," go to the "state and local
organizations" link, and click it. This page will give you a
list of states, with links pointing to the resource lists for
each state. Click on Pennsylvania. You should then see the
resource list.

As for chapters, I'm in Maryland, so I don't know about the
chapters in PA. But I think a good place to look for chapters in
your area is the PA affiliate Web site, which is www.nfbp.org.
If there is no chapter list on their Web site or contact
information for each chapter's President, I would suggest
contacting Jim Antionacci, the President of our PA affiliate.
I'm not sure of his email address or other contact information
though; that information should be in the resource list on the
NFB national Web site. I hope this helps!

Good luck,

opportunity, blindness can be reduced to a mere physical
nuisance."

Subject: [nfb-talk] need Philadelphia NFB contact

A good friend of mine, Harry Bridges, age 60, is a high school
physics teacher in the NE region of Philadelphia. He is having
progressive vision difficulties, caused by "corneal dystrophy,"
and wants to join a local chapter of the NFB. He lives 8 blocks
from the major intersection of Grant Ave. & Roosevelt Blvd.

Medication for his condition is experimental and very expensive,
not covered by his insurance. He needs advice on funding
sources. He expects to lose most of his usable vision and will
need vocational rehab training, preferably at an NFB center. He
will need advice on how to get Social Security or another source
to fund this. He needs contact information for the local voc
rehab or blind services agency to start processes. And he does
want to join, and attend regular chapter meetings. Please write
to me, or contact him directly. His email is:
harrybbridges at verizon.net
his phone is215-673-1323
and his address is
9518 Clark St., Phila 19115.

Thanks, Ed Meskys, NFB of NH
