[nfb-talk] Announcement: FTC's Identity Theft Program for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Good morning.

I know some are objecting to this announcement because it is labeled as a
special event for the blind.

It may well be true that the information presented will be similar to what
the sighted community gets, and it is certainly true we are just as
intelligent. We may at times though suffer from lack of information; this
is why we have special services such as Newsline to help close the gap.

Perhaps we should be glad that interest is taken in the fact that we as a
group within society has a need for access to information. If we say we
wish to be ignored, then we should not be surprised if we are ignored when
real issues such as web accessibility arise.
