Well Jack, believe it or not, you and I mostly agree here.  Local chapter meetings are the best way by far to make a good NFB connection.  However, I would say this.  To say that I am “a person who happens to be blind” is to diminish one’s blindness as if one is ashamed of it.  Make no mistake.  I realize what you are trying to do, but, may I suggest that perhaps it would be better to just come straight out and say I am “a blind person”?  After all, blindness is part of what we are:  and therefore, why try to hide it behind a euphemism of being a broken sighted person?
