I think you're right, and the thought occurred to me when writing my first
post, that people simply do things differently and have different concerns.
Seriously, you can't go through life worrying about cutting yourself, it's
going to happen, even paper cuts can bleed freely for a minute if you hit a
capillary, but safety precautions are always, always in order.

My mom would have laughed and said something like, so if you get a cut, get
a bandaid.  However, if one has neuropathy, that requires more thought for
safety concerns, to my way of thinking.

				My mom had a hard and fast rule, no glass
anything in the bathrooms, one that I have implemented in my house. 
Sounds like this isn't a blindness thing, just a mom thing. 
If you don't live with her, do what you want, she does her, you do you...
there's no need to fight.

I thought this was a settled issue, but apparently it isn't even in my own
family.  It is coming up because I broke botu a ceramic mug and glass cup
while washing and putting away dishes this week.  Even though my mom has a
live in partner who is also totally blind who she met through me, she feels
it is unsafe for me to have such items in my kitchen, being concerned about
the difficulty I may have cleaning up the broken items.  I also have type 2
diabetes, and she is concerned I might step on something broken with bare
feet.  

 

Mom says she would be just as concerned about sighted people having glass or
ceramics, but ZI still feel the comments are overprotective.  

 

Thouths, please.  

 

Happy Easter for those who celebrate that.
