[NFB-Talk] Accessible Event platform

All,

As Judy points out many platforms have one issue or another. Also, keep in
mind that the original request from Cricket was for a platform on which
meeting planners can conduct events. So, this means that when making
suggestions please consider what it would be like if you were attending a
meeting in person and then recommend platforms that give you that
functionality. The reality is that most options including Skype and others
do not offer what a meeting planner requires.

Even Citrix-based options can present issues. The fact is that Zoom meetings
and Zoom Webinar offer by far the most access. Microsoft Teams and Google
Meet are options, but again they have lacks such as no ability to record
with Google. While Microsoft Teams works now, it didn't six months ago and
Microsoft is quite notorious at changing functionality without including
access until later.

I always come back to Zoom because that company has demonstrated this year a
significant commitment to accessibility. It is inexpensive and quite
accommodating to various sized meetings.

Best Regards,

Michael Hingson

I've found GoogleMeet to be very good, but it does not have the recording
feature if you are needing that.

Freeconferencecall.com has free video conferencing, love it on the phone,
but not sure about the app.

Duo is great for small conferences and I've found very accessible, and is
also cross-platform, unlike FaceTime.

I've never tried it, but can one do a group video chat on Messenger? I've
only done it singly.

Our transit committees use Go-To-Meeting, and it doesn't have all the
functionality for members that Zoom does.

Hi folks,

I was talking to a friend and former boss last night; she is now a full-time
event planner. She is trying to persuade her boss to consider virtual event
platforms not for their external appearances, but for their accessibility
first. Other than Zoom, do you have any accessible platform recommendations?
Ideally, a platform should be interactive, like Zoom with the reactions and
chat. Thanks.

Best,
Cricket
