Tina and Peter,

When I made my donation, I noticed that the telephone donation process seemed to be part of the World Blind Union.  Specifically, the website says:

Call 240-885-7246 and leave a message with your name, phone number, location, and how much you are pledging to contribute. A representative from World Blind Union will call you back in the coming days. Please do not share your credit card information on voicemail. 

Further, the World Blind Union Ukraine Unity Fund was established on March 20.  This means that the planning of this event had to happen very quickly.  I have a feeling that PBS Pledge drives are planned more than three weeks in advance.  Further, anybody handling credit card information as a volunteer needs to have some kind of background check.  You don't just take anybody to do that.  It seems to me the judgments here are very harsh, and possibly directed to the wrong place.

You're absolutely right. I figured out how to make a donation, and did it.

One thing I appreciated was how the talk segments were kept short. I do agree that had a call center been operating, more money would have come in, but I'm thankful for the amount that was raised. The concert itself was well organized. And I was impressed by the variety of talents. Thanks.
