[NFB-Talk] Mask Mandates

The NFB shouldn't be held at all responsible for something as capricious as a virus.

Does this responsibility have to lie solely on the NFB's shoulders?
I for one don't think so. First of all, there was a convention at the same hotel right before us. In fact, many of those people were still there the night my husband and I checked in. Some of them stayed for a couple days after the essence festival ended. There was also to my understanding a communications convention at the same hotel. Do we have knowledge as to whether or not those folks were required to wear masks or be tested? I have never been given such information. Also, we know that NFB conventions are sometimes known for people getting together with those that they do not know P. We don't know for instance that a member did not go out into a bar, find someone they wanted to continue the company of in their hotel room, and bring that person back into our convention hotel. That person also most likely was not tested. There are many factors that can contribute to the outbreak of Covid, and while we may want to lay blame on the organization, we can't necessarily do so.

This is unlike people I know who weren't vaccinated in time and became extremely sick for weeks on end. These are choices that do impact other people, whether we recognize that fact or not. I guess we've gotten way off the track and I do apologize for starting that by my talking about my positive test a couple days ago, but it was a rude awakening to see so many people test positive at the end of the convention. Maybe our leadership will need to rethink the idea of an in-person convention next year if the present uptick continues. Just my opinion.
