This got me thinking about a burning question that comes into my head periodically.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>I was looking at the various cooking titles on NLS Bard, and I found many mainstream cookbooks, as well as at least a couple of blindness-specific titles.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>When it comes to organization and home management, I see the same trends.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>I get much out of these titles, and I ask: Is there still a need for blindness-specific content in these areas?<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>For instance, when I read in a mainstream book about how to keep the home clean, I realize that I’ve been doing that for a long time. I know that it’s common sense to leave a clear walking path through the home. I also know that you don’t have to see to know your bed is made.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>For cooking, most of us can read and follow a recipe, whether it’s in Braille, on a recorded cookbook, or from an app or web site. Most of us know how to clean up and take care of dirty dishes. I found 4 books on Bard about air fryers, and some others on audio book sites outside of the blindness community.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>So here’s my burning question. Is there still a need for blindness-specific content, such as books or podcasts, in these areas? If there is, what could this kind of content cover? Maybe there’s stuff out there that I don’t know about. If there is, where does one find it? Any thoughts? Thanks.<o:p></o:p></p></div></body></html>
