Fellow Federationists and Friends of the NFB of Utah!

The time has come for us to stand up for our rights as blind people here in
Utah! I have been working on a version of the parental rights for the blind
legislation and resolution that we passed during last years annual
convention. Representative Patrice Arent has proposed HB 150 Custody Rights
for blind and disabled parents to our Utah House of Representatives. The
Bill has been passed out of committee and will now be heard on the floor of
the House in our Utah Capital Building. The plan is for it to be presented
on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 11:45am.

I am asking all of you to please call your local representative and ask
them to vote Yes in favor of this Bill. This is of vital importance that
you do this over the weekend and on Monday! Remember that we are a voice
for collective action but that voice is silent if we are not heard!

I would like to publicly thank Christine Passey, SLC Mayors Coordinator of
Disability Rights and Susan Reimers, of our SLC chapter for their work and
testimony on this Bill!

If you are available to come to the capital on Tuesday, please let me know!

If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.

Thank you for calling your legislators and helping change custody laws for
our blind parents!
