Iām Ken Dukeāmarathoner, Grand-father of 9, retired software engineer, and proud President of the Salt Lake Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) of Utah. For over 21 years, the NFB has been more than an organization to meāitās been a lifeline, a launchpad, and a community that helped me discover what it truly means to live boldly and independently as a blind person.
On December 7, Iāll be running my 65th marathon at the California International Marathon (CIM). This isnāt just a raceāitās a celebration of resilience, purpose, and the power of community. Every mile I run is a tribute to the NFBās mission: helping blind individuals live the lives they want, without limits.
Iām running as part of Team NFB, alongside fellow athletes, and advocates, to raise funds that fuel life-changing programs, mentorship, and advocacy. My personal goal is to raise $1,500, and Iād be honored if youād support meāwhether by donating, sharing this post, or simply cheering us on.

Special thanks to my incredible Achilles Utah guidesāyour support makes every step possible.

Letās move forward together. Letās build a future where blindness is not a barrierābut a different way of seeing the world.
