Hello Friends and Family,
I want to invite you to our chapter meeting on Saturday February 15 at 11 am MST on the NFB of Utah Zoom link.
We will have special guest speaker Shae E. Daurte, PhD. She is the daughter of Max Daurte one of our leaders of NABM (National Association of Blind Merchants) . She will engage you with information on the Meta Samat Glasses and Shae will offer her personal prospective on how they can help you in your everyday life. Her belief in blind peoples success shows in her passion for sharing work opportunities with tech companies like Meta and Google. Please come with questions and be ready for an amazing conversation on how AI can benefit us as we move forward in the future of what it means to be blind. I have included her Bio so you will be familiar with her.
"Shea has her PhD in cognitive psychology from UC Davis, where she did research on multisensory perception and how it impacts human memory. While there, she interned twice at Google on their Sound & Haptics team, where she did research on audio interfaces for the Gemini AI model. Now, Shea is a user experience researcher on the Audio Research Team at Meta Reality Labs, where she conducts studies on how to improve voice interactions on virtual reality headsets and smart glasses, including Ray Ban Meta. Shea’s experiences growing up with visually impaired parents led her to the field of applied perception research, with the ultimate goal of helping to build better technology that is more usable for everyone."
If schedules allow we will be joined by one of our own, Jenifer Kennedy. Jenifer works as an O&M instructor with the state of Utah. Jen will share her knowledge of the Meta Smart Glasses and how AI can benefit you as a successful blind person.
We have invited working professionals as well as students of all ages to join us. I want to encourage parents to join in and offer their prospectives as well. I cant wait to have you join the call. Please feel free to share this invite with anyone you think might have and interest in the topic. All are welcome.
We will cover our elections and other chapter business after the presentation and discussion.
