UWIN Summer 2026 program is now accepting applications!
* Program dates are May 31 - July 10. *Home for 2 weekends*
* Spots are limited each year and there is frequently a waiting list to participate
* If the student is even considering the program, please submit the application (no obligation to the student for submitting)
What is UWIN?
UWIN is the ultimate opportunity for high school students with visual impairments to gain independence while getting paid!
* 6 weeks of independent living practice
* customized employment (24 hrs/week)
* supervised apartment living
* crash course in adulting essentials like
* cooking, cleaning, and budgeting
Who qualifies?
* Visually impaired students in high school or post-high school (final year of qualification upon graduation)
* This is a very fast-paced program that is designed primarily for students who will be living independently within 5 years of graduating high school
* Students must be independent in all hygiene and healthcare needs
* No job coaches provided except for limited initial training
How do I apply?

2. Apply for Voc Rehab ASAP (*Most students will request a blind/low vision specialist counselor): https://jobs.utah.gov/usor/vr/apply.html
3. Initial contact in January by Tatjana
4. Parent/Teacher feedback
5. Student interview
6. Requirement completions
1. This program has outside requirements for funding that is provided by Voc Rehab, free of charge to their clients
2. Families are required to provide transportation to program in SLC
3. Spots are limited each year and there is frequently a waiting list to participate
4. If the student is even considering the program, please submit the application (no obligation to the student for submitting)
