Mae and I wanted to let NFBVT folks know about a resource for children with brain-based blindness (Cerebral Visual Impairment) and their parents/carers. We are on the organizing team for a virtual, free discussion group focused on topics related to CVI and increasing sharing lived-experience learnings from CVIers and their families. If you know a kiddo or young person with CVI lacking support and community, please do share that two of our NFBVT members are working on this opportunity.

Upcoming meeting announcement:

The Smith Kettlewell Eye Research Institute (SKERI) and Chandna SeeLab at SKERI are hosting the sixth discussion group of this year for parents/carers of children with Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) and older children with CVI (attended with their parents/carers).

The invited presenter will be Andrea Montaño, MA, OT/L, DSIII Developmental Vision Specialist at NMSBVI Early Childhood Programs. Andrea will be presenting on Early Identification of CVI: Supporting Families on Their Journey. Dr. Arvind Chandna will be presenting a Clinical Knowledge Series talk on Vision in the Early Years.

We welcome your family joining! To attend, visit this link and choose the “register” option. You will then receive the zoom link by email.
