domains to renew is usually with mine is $4.99 a year I got the 5 year plan which came to $20 I don't think that is so bad.

      But they won't automatically renew the domain? No thanks. I've had one 
  too many scrambles over expiring and expired domains and don't care to have 
  any more of them.

  register will sign you up for a five year block and they send reminders when
  your renewal date is coming a few months before the due date.
