I did not use PHP or an external js file, and I kept the limit at 2 since I did not have a long list. And I got it to work with 3 minor changes. I can send you the sample I used if you want. But I basically created a HTML page starting with the sample you pointed us to and made your code substitutions. Yes, the array SelDrvr[] is probably the main source of your problem or rather the syntax you are using. I simply removed the left and right square brackets in the HTML input tag line and the javascript method call. The third change I made or recommend is not really regarding your problem. in the HTML input tag line, one of the attributes you have listed is value. All attributes should have quotation marks around the value itself. so your sample line would look like this now. Antron_Brown$1,400,000
And if you may, I would like to make one other recommendation. I am not sure what the dollar amount is needed for, but I would recommend not using it in the value attribute if at all possible. Or at least the dollar sign symbol. The dollar sign in most programming is a special character that indicates a variable name and could cause other problems down the line in your processing. -- Graham blind at trailstone.com -----Original Message----- From: Bryan Schulz [mailto:b.schulz at sbcglobal.net] Sent: Sunday, January 06, 2013 7:23 PM To: nfb-web at nfbnet.org Subject: [Nfb-web] java script glitch hi, after reading the sample found at: http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/checkboxlimit.shtml any idea why this won't fire after 8 checkboxes are selected? does it matter if the java script function is in an external .js file? i have a feeling it has something related to the SelDrvr[] checkbox array. form html code: sample checkbox line generated from php: Antron_Brown$1,400,000 on same page with the form: Bryan Schulz _______________________________________________ Nfb-web mailing list Nfb-web at nfbnet.org http://nfbnet.org/mailman/listinfo/nfb-web_nfbnet.org To unsubscribe, change your list options or get your account info for Nfb-web: http://nfbnet.org/mailman/options/nfb-web_nfbnet.org/blind%40trailstone.com From zia7 at cdc.gov Tue Jan 8 12:13:44 2013 From: zia7 at cdc.gov (Senk, Mark J. Drupal has themes that you can install, however having a sighted person look at your site to make sure it went in right, is a good thing. You can also hire people to make a theme, or customize one for you. Different themes have different areas of the page you can put data. In drupal they call them blocks. So you sort of build your page like that. I struggle a little with drupal 7 so I still use 6, since I know it so well. There are many many themes. Hope this helps. I will attempt a reply, however your usage of Php and tables confuses me a little. Is your master table in a database or on a php web page when your asking this question. If working solely within a database, I would make your department tables a view in to the master table. if the master table is in a database and you are using a php call to get the info, why not just several php calls to the database such that a specific department is the selection criteria. Now if you don't know the department names, but want to list the info in separate tables on the php page, then that gets a little tricky. I would make a php call to your database sorting on the department. If it is not sorted then your php page would have to do that and could make the php page messy. Once you have the list retrieved then you could do one of two things. One approach would to be to loop through the list and if the current department did not equal the previous department end your HTML table and start a new HTML table for the new department. Or the second approach would be to loop through the master table and the department in its own array or in a double indexed array. Then loop through the appropriate array to display the info later. Not sure if this helps, but maybe helps the thinking process. If you want to have an alert pop up every time the user clicks a checkbox, but only provides the total team value once, then put your alert statement directly after the line }//end if salary check But before this line }//end unnamed function This way, if the user does exceed the max salary, it will re-adjust the total value before providing how much the user spent. As I mentioned in other correspondences, I would have some other functions and clean my solution up, this works. Read more about it here: http://make.wordpress.org/accessibility/2013/01/25/irc-meetups/ When I've used IRC, I have used either a stand-alone client, called InstantBird, or Firefox with an add-in called Chatzilla. Both of these are PC-based, but I'm sure there are plenty of choices on other platforms. It is pretty straightforward, and for the most part behaves pretty well. There are lots of links, particularly on the WHM main page. You choose something up top, and the results, of that choice, are displayed in the bottom frame. You move between frames with m key in JAWS.
