Dear Peter.

I've used both wordpress and drupal. They are useful for different things. It would probably help us if you told us what your business is about and what you want the website to do.

If you have no web development experience, then there would have to be a very strong justification for drupal IMHO.

If you want to learn about building sites from scratch, there are two directions you could go.
You could start out with a very simple CMS such as pmwiki or BoltWire.

These are lesser known CMS, but they start extremely simple with their own markup which negates the need to learn html while still allowing full control over the format of pages. They also have snap in interfaces. That means initially they start you out with only a very basic set of features to install and learn. Then they have a way for you to install extra features quickly and to use the term loosely, easily as you need them. So that's the first direction you could go.

The other direction is, you could visit the cisco academy for the visually impaired.

They offer a course in html and another course in PHP. I haven't taken either of these, but I did take their course in linux administration and it was very good. The prices do not break the bank. This is the long way around, but it would enable you to use even the most advanced CMs, or even create your own site from scratch.

Please feel free to ask if you have more qquestions.

Regards,
