We are planning to conduct The National Literary Braille Competency Test at
the NFB of Georgia State Convention in October. We need to know by this
Friday, August 28, how many individuals would like to take the test in order
to ensure we have enough to justify the expense. The cost to take the test
is $250 per person, and the test takes up to eight hours to complete
(including lunch and breaks) If a sufficient number of people commit by
this Friday, the test will be conducted on Friday, October 9th in Macon
Georgia. Please respond ASAP if you are interested.

NCLB Certification

The National Blindness Professional Certification Board (NBPCB) has
established rigorous standards for certifying competent professionals who
wish to demonstrate their knowledge and proficiency in reading and writing
the literary Braille code. Successful applicants who earn the designation,
National Certification in Literary Braille (NCLB), associated with the
National Literary Braille Competency Test (NLBCT) are entitled to all rights
and responsibilities therein as long as he or she maintains active
certification status and upholds the NBPCB Code of Professional Ethics.

The National Literary Braille Competency Test (NLBCT) is used to measure the
level of a person's ability to read and write contracted literary Braille.
Although the test can be taken by anyone, it is intended primarily for
teachers of Braille and future teachers of Braille. The test has been
revised and thoroughly pilot tested, and is now ready for public release.

Thanks,
