Hello Fellow Federation Members,
I would like to express to you all my desire to be the next President of our organization.
A little bit of my history.
• I am a third generation blind man currently there are five. Which means that for me ……..making sure that blind people gain and maintain opportunities is not just a slogan……it is my life.
• I started the Bainbridge chapter and served as President, Vice-president and very active board member.
• I have served on the Affiliate Board under the past three administrations.
• I have attended leadership training at the national office andhave served under Robert Smith as the Legislative Director Assistant and then became Legislative Director of the Affiliate for the past six years.
• I have also served on the mentoring Team since 2006.
• I have assisted many people with navigating through the VR process to attend our NFB training centers or achieve other goals.
• I have also served on some regional and state disability boards down throughout the years.
I believe this should show that I do not mind serving and working with and for the blind of GA.
If elected, there are two issues that I would have as my priorities:
1. In order to bring opportunity, security and equality back to the blind we must improve our membership numbers. If we want a more level and equal opportunity, we must get back into the state political arena and that can only happen with more numbers of more politically involved members. We must not sit on the sidelines and expect others to include us.
2. We live in a world where our young blind are constantly being pushed towards not being blind caused it’s not normal. That's why we must keep improving our Peach program, and find our young and teach them it’s ok to take your long white cane to the mall on Saturday. Teach and show them that you can be a scientist when you grow up. We should be looking right now for two high school blind students to send to next year’s STEM camp.
As you can see, I have a lot of love for this organization and Ifeel that with my knowledge and experience and with your help, we can take this organization to the next level.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
