Requests for Accommodations Based on Disability

Due to the size and complexity of this convention, as well as the need to
appropriately plan for additional human and other resources, requests for
specific accommodations you require to participate fully and equally were
due to us thirty days prior to the convention. If you have not submitted
your request, please do so immediately by sending an email to
jerniganinstitute at nfb.org
<https://www.nfb.org/libraries/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=14825&qid=2807574>.
Late requests will be considered but we cannot guarantee that we can
fulfill them due to time and resource constraints. Preregistrants of the
convention who require deaf or deaf-blind interpreters should review the
convention agenda and provide us with a description of the type of
accommodation you need and a list of convention sessions you will be
attending.

We will offer special arrangements for severely hearing-impaired people
attending convention sessions and the banquet. This will consist of
transmission of the public address system signal over a special short-range
radio transmitter. The NFB will provide special receivers to those needing
them, managed by the Amateur Radio Division. A deposit of $40, cash only,
will be required of anyone wishing to check out one of the Federation's
receivers. The deposit will be returned if the receiver is checked in at
the checkout table in good condition by the end of the banquet or within
thirty minutes of adjournment of the last convention session that the
borrower plans to attend.
NFB-Conventions Listserv

This NFB email listserv facilitates the exchange of announcements related
to both the NFB National Convention and conventions of NFB state affiliates
held throughout the year.

If you are looking for a roommate, want to share information about
transportation, or would like to make an announcement concerning the agenda
or a meeting, then this is the place to let others know. This is an
announcement-only list and it is moderated, which means all posts will be
approved before they appear on the list. Please include contact information
on all message submissions. This is NOT a forum for messages or
announcements from exhibitors or vendors. These restrictions are intended
to make the list most useful to those seeking information about NFB
conventions.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
